Jane's Walk to see the accomplishments of Participatory Budgeting in District 39

Free tour

In NYC, community members get to decide how to spend public money through participatory budgeting (PB). On this walk, we learned more about PB, visited projects that our community chose to invest in, & spoke with City Councilmember Brad Lander, who helped bring PB to NY. The walk was led by neighborhood District Committee members Caron Atlas and Christa Paterline.

The walking tour included:

  • The Park Slope Library Story Garden
  • The Center for Anti-Violence Education's Upstander Trainings
  • The Old Stone House, where we discussed what PB is and met with members of the Youth Committee
  • Groundswell murals and learning about a PB project including Groundswell, Reelworks, and Roof Top Films
  • A stop by CHIPS and learning about a PB project to provide outdoor showers
  • Learning about projects at Park Slope School, PS 282 and a PB project supporting immigrants through Imani House.

This tour was part of the #JaneswalkNYC festival of 200 + walking conversations in neighborhoods across NYC. To learn more click here.
