As Working Films says, "we know that stories lead to action."

Arts & Democracy Project brought together a powerful group of people and media projects for a discussion on creative community engagement strategies and campaigns for social change that move people to action.

From Media to Action: Creative engagement and organizing strategies featured the following films and interactive media projects:
  • Fruitvale Station, a narrative feature that follows the true story of Oscar Grant who was tragically killed by BART officers in 2009. Opens 7/12 in NY, SF, and LA and 7/26 across the country.
  • Herman's House, a feature documentary that explores the injustice of solitary confinement and the transformative power of art.
  • Land of Opportunity, a transmedia project that captures the struggle to rebuild New Orleans. 
  • 13 in the Hole, a documentary about Southwest Detroit residents fighting for environmental justice in response to an oil refinery expansion and a waste water treatment plant.
